Edward VIII. Gold Two Pounds. 1936. Fantasy piece.
£359.00
Struck in 9ct gold, with a London hallmark on the plain edge.
28.5mm. 15.3g. Struck in a proof like finish.
I have been unable to ascertain who commissioned this piece. The makers initials on the hallmark are P.D. but unusually it carries no date letter. Many representations of Edward VIII coins have been struck for collectors who would otherwise have a gap in their collection, and this one is unusually struck in gold to a similar weight to a Royal Mint £2.
