This medal is impressed to 3479 Pte B Spires. 2nd E Surrey Regt. There is an official correction to the surname which is supported by the medal roll which initially lists his name as spiers. The bars are Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Laings Nek, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, and South Africa 1902. It is noted that Private Spires was invalided to England.
An excellent QSA in nearly EF condition, with a faint ghost date. Ex Spinks. 12/20.
