This medal has been through a couple of changes in its time.
The good news is that it is correctly impressed to 3648 Pte J. WRIGHT. NOTTS & DERBY REGt. The obverse shows signs of brooch mounting at some point, quite nicely removed. The suspension and clasps are original but not for this medal, and are slightly loose around the mounting pin. Fitted are WITTEBERGEN, TRANSVAAL, CAPE COLONY.
His correct entitlement is JOHANNESBURG, DIAMOND HILL, CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE
Private Wright is also entitled top the India General Service medal, clasp Punjab Frontier 1897-98 serving with the 2nd Battalion, Derbyshire Regiment, and the Kings South Africa Medal with both clasps, 1st Battalion, Notts & Derby. (Details confirmed from Ancestry.co.uk)
Other than the points described, this medal is very fine, with a replacement ribbon.
