Commemorative Medallion - Coronation of William IV and Queen Adelaide - by Thomas Halliday, Birmingham, 1831
The obverse features conjoined busts of William and Adelaide. The busts are in profile, facing right. The male bust is bareheaded whilst the female bust is wearing a diadem. The busts are accompanied by the legend: "GULIEL : IV ET ADELAIDE, REX ET REGINA BRITAN".
The reverse features William and Adelaide in coronation robes, sat upon thrones. They are being crowned by the figures of Britannia, Hibernia and Scotia (mythical figures representing Britain, Scotland and Ireland). They are accompanied by the text: "PARI LONGUM VIGEANT HONORE" (May they long flourish in equal honour) and the exergue: "CORONATI SEP.8.1831".
