William Henry Jones was born at Swansea in 1888 and joined the South Wales Borderers in August 1907. During the Great War he served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force from 17 March 1915, very likely seeing action at Gallipoli. He joined the Royal Flying Corps in February 1918. He served with No. 18 Squadron, Royal Air Force.
